~ About Nuv Yug ~

The Hindi phrase "Nuv Yug" means "new era" or "new generation".

Nuv Yug is a non-profit tax-exempt public charity with a mission to promote awareness of Indian Cultural Arts. Over the years, Nuv Yug has developed a reputation for producing high quality programs that offer a unique cultural exchange opportunity to citizens of Raleigh and surrounding areas.

Since 2003, our flagship event Nuv Yug India Fest has been organized with support from City of Raleigh Arts Commission and many other organizations and individuals. Raleigh's India Fest attracts over 1,500 stage performers, who present almost 150 dance and music items during the festival. During the weekend, traditional crafts vendors from New York, Chicago and Florida in addition to many local vendors showcase unbelievable crafts from India. And, area\'s top restaurants offer famous Indian delicacies to visitors.

Nuv Yug's objective is to enhance the quality of life of local residents and utilize its platform to support people in need.

About Team Members

Ujjwal Srivastava

Ujjwal

Ujjwal is an IIT (Indian Institute of Technology, Varanasi) alumnus and holds an MBA from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. He has lived in the Triangle area since 1990 and has been an active volunteer in the Indian American community.

He has helped establish a solid foundation for the two largest Indian Cultural Arts festivals in the Raleigh-Cary area. He is now working with Indian communities in other cities to help ignite a grass roots movement to establish a similar Indian Cultural Arts festival in each of these areas. These festivals hope to foster a lifetime of learning in youth by creating an opportunity to showcase their talents and passion for various Indian dance and music forms at a national stage. These festivals will be based on the same state-of-the-art online platform that Ujjwal helped build for Nuv Yug's mega production to offer an unmatched participant experience each year.

Ujjwal serves as President and is the Chair of the Board of Trustees of Nuv Yug.

Richa Kapoor

Richa Kapoor

Richa has lived in the Triangle area since 1997 and currently lives in Morrisville with her husband and children. She has been an active volunteer in the community. Richa was born and brought up in Kolkata, India and is an MBA from Calcutta University. Currently she is a stay at home mom.

Richa is passionate about music and dance and has been involved with children to promote Indian Culture and Heritage. She has also actively participated in a number of cultural programs in the Triangle Area. Richa has been involved with Nuv Yug Cultural Committee since 2010.

She believes that Nuv Yug is an excellent platform to promote Indian Culture, Heritage and Diversity in the USA as well as bringing out the local talent. Since 2014, she is serving as Vice President of Cultural Programs.

Ashish Pancholi

Ashish Pancholi

After finishing undergrad Electrical Engineering in REC, Surat and working with JK Corp in India, Ashish moved to Charlotte, NC in 2000, where he pursued his Masters in Electrical and Computer Engineering from UNCC while working as a quality assurance engineer.

He moved from Charlotte to the Triangle area in 2007 with his wife, son and daughter. He has been an active volunteer in many ways with our community. Currently, he is actively involved in NC state parks which involves planning with state troop for creating volunteer work for a team of people, making and maintaining trails, cleaning up lakes with a team of volunteers and planting trees.

Ashish is passionate about music, dance and art. He satisfies this by providing full support to his child’s dance and culture participation. He believes that Nuv Yug is giving many local artists with every age group a platform to grow, and at the same time, bring Indian culture heritage to Indian American community who is living far from India. By associating with Nuv Yug, Ashish wants to be a part of a team to serve community as a good citizen.

Ashish serves as Vice President and Treasurer.

Pritika De

Pritika De

Pritika holds dual Masters degrees in Special Education & Social Work. She has lived and worked in many cities across India and has experienced numerous cultures and art forms. She has a deep appreciation of the inherent diversity in the performing arts.

Pritika comes from an artistic family of renowned Tabla player and Musicologist, Pandit Gyan Prakash Ghosh of the Farukhabaad Gharana. She started her training in dance (Bharatnatyam) at a very early age and has a Diploma with distinction from Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh. She is also an active proponent of other dance forms like Bollywood, Indo Jazz and Hip Hop. She is passionate about the positive value art brings in the lives of children and adults alike, brought about from an exchange of ideas and cultures.

Pritika has been volunteering under various capacities at Nuv Yug for several years. After moving to Charlotte, she has successfully spearheaded Nuv Yug's effort to start a grass roots movement for a new festival in Charlotte. She serves as a Vice President on Nuv Yug's Board of Directors and as President of the Charlotte Chapter.

Sanjeev Sachan

Sanjeev SachanSanjeev grew up in a small village in India. He worked for Maruti Udyog Ltd (India) before he moved to Michigan in 2000. He also lived for 8 years in Chicago, where he helped organize Indian cultural programs. In 2013, he moved to the Raleigh area with his wife and two daughters. Sanjeev enjoys working with people and serving the community. Sanjeev has a B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from Institute of Engineering and Technology Lucknow (India), a Masters from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (India) and an M.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin Madison.

Sanjeev serves as a Vice President.

Siva Sundaramoorthy

Siva SundaramoorthySiva enjoys doing quality work with interesting people. He has been in the Raleigh area since 2010. He works as an AVP with Credit Suisse, RTP since 2002. He has a MS from WMU Michigan. He has been a part of various cultural festivals and in event management throughout his life. He is also involved in many volunteer activities in the community, especially with the Triangle Down Syndrome network.

Siva serves as Corporate Secretary and a Vice President of Nuv Yug.

Harshad Kolte

Harshad

Harshad has lived in the Triangle area since 1996. He has always been involved with music and music related organizations since childhood. He has served on the committes of several organizations. He was active with SPIC-MACAY (Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth) in his undergrad and Vice President of the same in grad school (Clemson University). He has been actively involved in the Marathi community and served on its committee. He is a semi-classical singer and also plays the keyboard. He has participated in several cultural programs. Harshad brings his experience and enthusiasm to Nuv Yug.

Harshad serves as Vice President and Trustee of Nuv Yug.

Juhi Thakur

Juhi

Juhi believes - "Dance is Nirvana." She started with formal Kathak training at the age of 4 in small town of Khandwa (MP, India) and was felicitated by the then Governor of the State of Madhya Pradesh.

Juhi has participated in numerous events and competitions and has been eager to harness her talent for charity purposes. Her creativity and innovative fusion style is evident in her ultra-high energy, and passionate performances. Her choreography showcases subtle nuances of various dance forms - classical, western, folk, spiritual and yet she is totally Bollywood-ish by heart. As an IT professional and a mother of two lovely girls, she strives to make dance look fun.

Juhi serves as a Director.

Trisha Arora

Trisha

Trisha was born in Agra and grew up in Noida, India. She moved to the Triangle area with her husband in 2015. She holds an MBA in HR and Marketing.

Trisha has participated in various events and has volunteered for many community causes. She has been associated with Nuv Yug in various capacities for several years and has a strong desire to serve the arts field to the best of her ability. She believes Nuv Yug is a great platform to help us stay connected to our Indian roots in the USA through Culture and Arts.

Trisha serves as a Director.
